Not Having a Voice

On Thursday night I stopped in Missoula to catch up with some dear friends on my way to a trunk show in Bozeman. That evening, I started to get a sore throat and sounded a bit hoarse. By Friday, I had very little voice at all.

And by Friday night, the most I could muster was a screaming whisper. I have never lost my voice before. It is a new experience. It is quite entertaining to try and host a trunk show (that was combined with a going away party, so it was quite loud) when you have no voice. You find yourself screaming about earrings and coordinating bracelets and you can tell people have no idea what you are saying, but they nod, because they don't have the heart to ask you to repeat yourself. Hilarious.

This whole scenario was repeated last night when I attended a fantabulous Christmas party at 6 Par Farmer's Sister and Brother-In-Laws. The screaming whisper was even less effective. Lucky for me, 6 Par Farmer is a giver, so he took me home at a reasonable hour, not without stopping for some NyQuil.

No picture today, because that's kind of what it is like not having a voice...

It takes a village

Our holiday party was soooo much fun!

It is amazing how much prep it takes to get ready for one of these events. Food, decorations, flyers, baskets, cute outfits, cocktails, cleaning, oh my!

Luckily, in the Evans family, we all work together. Sweet Peach made Limoncello, pine nut mini cakes, black pepper almonds (recipe courtesy of 6 Par Farmer's mother), and blue cheese, bacon, pecan cookies (and yes, you did just hear blue cheese and bacon and cookie in the same sentence. So good!). She also organized champagne cocktails with Limoncello (what a great idea courtesy of Kitty Lusse), and Chambord (always a crowd pleaser), hot apple cider, and other non-alcoholic options.

Sister (not sure what Sister's pseudonym is, but how is a girl supposed to keep up with all of these damn pseudonyms anyway? I think I called three different people by the wrong name last night. People I know quite well. Reattach head, please.) So anyway, Sister cleaned up the retail space to make space for Bon Lemon to squish in, created beautiful sale baskets, and was the cute pregnant girl. Flame Relief and Naughty N helped tag, sort, and shop. You know what they say, it takes a village.

Thanks to everyone who came out and supported your local skin and wax, jewelry and accessories shoppe. We appreciate it! And so does the Thurston Country Food Bank. We are making a big donation for the holidays.

Thanks!!!

Small Business Saturday

We had so much fun spending the morning at the shoppe for Small Business Saturday. We enjoyed cupcakes made by Sweet Charley B's (a great new local cupcakery you should totally check out), visited with friends, and organized. And we donated 10% of all sales to the Thurston County Food Bank!

If you missed us, never fear; we are having our holiday party on December 9th. Spruce and Bon Lemon will have delicious treats, cocktails, and lots of great one-day-only specials. Stop by from 5-8.

Sparkly Sprout, an old friend from high school, modeled a variety of Bon Lemon pieces and enjoyed a cupcake. Isn't she cute?
