A Day at the Races!
Yesterday, two of my good friends and I went to the horse races at Emerald Downs. Why, you ask? Why not? I had never been and Groupon had a special for admission, a program and $10 in food. What a deal! As my friends pointed out, I like doing weird, new things. (I also like good deals.) So, off to the races we went :)
We started things of with the Star Spangled Banner. This was, after all, a sporting event.
How cute are these girls? So fun!
Most people spend more money gambling when they have a couple of cocktails, so it was no surprise there was a fully stocked bar on every floor of Emerald Downs. We wanted to blend in with the crowd, so we had a couple of bloody mary's and a vodka cran. And then some polish dogs, battered fries, and ice cream. (Note to self: One must work out before and after going to the horse races.)
The facility at Emerald Downs was quite impressive. It was definitely nicer than I expected. There were six floors with all different types of venues, from taco bars to private clubs to hot dog stands. (You can see where we fit in best... You know you want a good polish sausage with kraut?)
All the floors were filled with people out to watch the ponies on this beautiful Sunday .
Mount Rainier makes a great backdrop for this impressive sport.
We didn't win any money, but we did have fun and all decided we would go back. There is a little something for everyone. If you haven't been, I recommend a day at the races.
