A Note from The Proprietress

Bonjour Lemon Lovers:

Small Business Saturday is Saturday November 24th.  It was created to support small businesses like Bon Lemon.  You have all heard the statistics about how your dollars affect your community when you shop at a big box store vs. a locally owned business.  It really does make a difference.  By shopping at Bon Lemon, here is the difference you are making.

You have created full-time and part-time jobs for Amy Evans, Brenna Weaver, Ryane Bensley, and Jill Halvorsen.  You have donated tens of thousands of dollars to community organizations in Washington, Montana, Arizona, and nationwide.  You allow our landlord  to have a reliable tenant who pays rent and keeps their building tidy.  You support a business that pays taxes that support schools and social programs.  You support people who are volunteering on boards and committees.  You allow us to pay our mortgages, buy groceries, and support other locally owned businesses.  You make the world more SPARKLY.

I love Target as much as the next gal.  You don't have to stop shopping there to support Small Business Saturday.  But when you are figuring out your Christmas, Chanukah, or other gift giving decisions, think about shopping SMALL.  There are so many lovely shoppes that are owned by people just like me.  (Spruce Skin and Wax Shoppe is right next door and we have some great, ready-made packages available for gift giving.  Plus, I hear their owner is pretty cool too.  ;)

Might I suggest, this year, you replace ONE of your big box gifts with something from a local, small business.  Just ONE will make a difference.  And if you want to get all crazy, commit to buying all of your gifts locally.  I promise, it does make a difference.  For me, my employees, the community, and YOU.

Thank you for you support of Bon Lemon.  We LOVE what we do and know that we couldn't do it without all of you.

Shop small.  Be happy.

Merci!

P.S.  Here are some of the people behind Bon Lemon.  Don't we look like happy people?  We are!

This is a group of us supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters at their annual auction.
Ryane gets to work with us part-time.  Yippee!
Working for Bon Lemon part-time allows Jill to stay home with this cute little one.
My mom thanks you for allowing me to own Bon Lemon.  I am much happier than when I was a lawyer.  :)

Brenna tells me often how much she loves her job.  We love her!  Bon Lemon wouldn't function without her.  We are so very grateful she chooses to spend her days at Bon Lemon.
