Waiting is Pretty

I have three friends who are currently on the verge of child birth. These ladies have waited 9 months for the little human in their belly to show their shining face. And they are almost here. Yay!

When my mom had my sister, she was 3 weeks late. Yes. 3 weeks. No accredited doctor today would allow this. Let's just say, Sister was cozy. And back then, they let babies be cozy.

I think waiting for a baby to be born is pretty awesome. (I realize most woman who have "waited" for a baby are muttering under their breath about how I clearly have never been pregnant and don't understand how uncomfortable you are after growing a baby in your belly for 9 months. Yeah. I know. I am naive.) The little future president/roller derby player/novelist/deadbeat are just hanging out in there. Growing. And floating around. And when they are good and ready, they will decide to come out. But until they are ready, they just hang out. Floating around.

These days you can surgically remove a baby whenever you want, but I think the waiting part is pretty cool. It reminds you, there are things greater than yourself.

And who knows, you baby might grow up to be as awesome as this stud. If we could all be so lucky.

A baby turtle. In Seattle!

Today, I went to Seattle to get some new wares for Bon Lemon. When I stopped to take Dolce Vita Evans for a walk, I saw this family of turtles. Isn't the baby cute? A sunny day in Seattle. A baby turtle. And lots of new pretties for Bon Lemon. What a day!

What Maebel will wear when she is bald: Hugs and Kisses

In the Evans family, we are born bald. And we stay bald for at least a good year. Maybe two. My unborn niece Maebel's only chance of hair is the Johns side of the family. I feel it is my personal duty to accessorize Maebel's bald head.

Last night, Bon Lemon did a joint trunk show with Bri from Hugs and Kisses. I was so excited to learn Hug and Kisses makes hair flowers for babies (and ladies). (Read: Maebel has a chance of looking cute, even if she doesn't sprout any hair.) All of the flowers can be attached to beanies, hair, or headbands as shown in the picture. And their prices are sooooo affordable.

But the best part about Hugs and Kisses was Bri herself. She has such a great personality and clearly loves what she does. We talked a lot of shop and exchanged business ideas. Like so many women, she is trying to find a balance between work and family. There are not enough hours in the day! I hope to do a show with Bri again. It is always great to meet other women in business. Check out Hugs and Kisses: http://www.facebook.com/briananettleton?sk=info#!/xoxobybre. I think her stuff makes a great addition to a baby shower gift. And how about these booties? CUTE!!!

Maebel now has her own personal collection of Hugs and Kisses. She will be thanking me when she looks back at pictures of herself as a baby and the only thing denoting her as a girl is the purple flower in her hair. (Evanses also look like boys for 4 or 12 years. Sister being the former and me being the latter.)

Yeah for accessories!

Sister! Fig!

Sister, Brother, and Fig have come to Scottsdale! And you can actually see Fig now! Yippee! She even moved last night, and I got to feel her. We have decided she likes the name Maebel. She does not like the name Cora. She also likes Patron and mini-brie snacks.

Sister and I had a laborious day of shopping for maternity clothes at Fashion Square, eating lunch at a yummy new restaurant on the canal, The Herb Box, and getting a massage at O'Hana. (Can Sister come visit every weekend? It sure beats researching POS systems.) The guys played 36 holes of golf, at... a golf course. (I should pay more attention I guess.) They are back at it today at Talking Stick, and we are off to look for baby clothes and home decor at Kierland Commons. P to the S, Sister and Brother's house is soo cute! Still working on the nursery. I love being the helper!

For those of you who don't know, this is what Fig looks like. Isn't she cute?

Baby Showers Galore!

Tis the season to be knocked up! I have sooo many friends that are expecting. I think there was something in the water. (P.S. We carry the cutest "Knocked Up" Dogeared necklace. Available in silver and gold. Perfect for the prego friend in your life. http://www.bonlemon.com/item_184/Dogeared-Knocked-Up-Necklace.htm)

I am co-hosting 3, not 1, not 2, but 3, baby showers this spring. Pump Wearing Parole Officer is knocked up, Sister is knocked up, and Montana Belle is knocked up! These are all going to be unique and fabulous showers. I have been scouring the Internet for appropriate invitations and found some! I can't post pictures now, because it would ruin the surprise for all of the guests. :)

I have also been looking for unique games, decorations, favors, etc. Baby showers are one of those things that can get painfully generic, so a little creativity goes a long way. There are so many creative people out there. I am planning on scalping as many ideas as I can :). I love these bottles for a baby girl shower.

Are you freaking kidding me?

And how about this french patisserie...? Ooo la la.

And this...

OMG

I need an unlimited budget and lots of free time. More details on real life baby showers coming soon.

eTrade

I don't work for eTrade. I tried to invest money via eTrade once, and I got so worried I pulled it all out the next day and paid a bunch of fees. I am not getting paid for this endorsement, but...

eTrade has the best commercials ever!

Cute and funny without being crude. Love. Love. Love.
