I Want That: Leopard Carpet

We are in the process of fixing up our new office space. (If you haven't heard, we are getting our own showroom. Woo hoo!)

Since, we aren't sure whether Bon Lemon will be way bigger in a year and have to find more space, we don't want to overdo the build out. Just some simple things to make it our own.

So, we will likely go for a neutral carpet color that can be used with a subsequent tenant. But if I had my druthers... we would have leopard carpet.

I love leopard carpet.



In every room.



Maybe in the next office.

I Want That: MacKenzie-Childs

After a trip to Neiman Marcus in St. Louis, I was reminded of my love of MacKenzie-Childs. (They carry tons of it.) MacKenzie-Childs' flagship store is in New York City, but if you are not in New York, you can find their wares at all of the Neiman Marcus stores and even in Whitefish, Montana at S.M. Bradford (S.M. Bradford carries a great selection of their tableware and decor.).



MacKenzie-Childs pieces are all hand-painted at the MacKenzie-Childs dairy farm turned production studio in Aurora, New York. (Now I want to go there and check it out...) Their pieces are both classic and fresh, traditional and whimsical, and nothing but fun. I can't get enough of their "Courtly Check" signature pattern.



Clearly, Dolce Vita Evans needs the dog bowl.



And the Parchment Check is nice because it is a little more subdued.

I Want That: A Goat

So... I love goats. I have always loved goats. It started when I worked on a farm in Olympia as a teenager. I spent many an afternoon chasing and tackling escaped goats. I loved their spirit and curiosity. This love grew in 2009, when I spent some time working on a goat farm in Northern Italy. My knowledge and love of goats blossomed. (As did my love of Italy and goat cheese. Mmm...)



I really do think I need a goat. Well, not just one, because then it would be lonely. But a couple of goats. A friend of mine, North Star, is likely going to get a couple of goats to keep her chickens company. (And make delicious goat cheese.) I think I might have to move into their guest bedroom just to get my goat fix. Be forewarned North Star.

It might be a little bit before I get a goat of my own. These are the goats we used to take on daily walks through the countryside in Italy.



And this is a goat that was very curious about my traveling companion Sylvie. Like I said: curious little creatures. Love them!

I Want That: Bottega Veneta

What is it about the eponymous woven leather of Bottega Veneta? Like most wonderful things in life, it is a simple. Leather. Woven. And then shaped in all sorts of interesting ways. Love.

I love all of the fringey stuff they are doing this season. It nods at the seventies, but most of all it is just plain fun. You can't be in a bad mood carrying that handbag.



But I also love their traditional shapes. There is something so quietly luxe about these handbags. Aaaahhh. I feel more zen-like just looking at them.



At a couple/few thousand bucks, there is nothing quiet about the price, but these bags are classic and will last forever. (Okay, maybe the fringey ones aren't classic, but they sure are fab.)

I Want That: Alexander McQueen Wheat Pumps

My boyfriend, 6 Par Farmer, is a wheat farmer in Montana. He used to grow a little bit of ornamental, black bearded wheat just like the wheat hanging from these fabulous shoes by Alexander McQueen. Alexander McQueen is an iconic brand known for pushing the bounds of fashion. Wheat + Alexander McQueen + shoes. What else do you need to know? Clearly, I need these. (Although, it is unlikely I could walk in them...)

I think some of the best fashion designers come from other industries. Ilaria Pavone, an industrial and interior designer by training, is no exception. Her Comme L'oiseau handbag line is lust worthy. I will own one. Soon. A little more info on the collection.

I Want That: J. Crew

I pretty much want this whole outfit. The flame colored cashmere sweater is perfect for fall. Bright and colorful, but warm and cozy. The shoes and clutch pair nicely as well. But what I am drooling over are those pants! Oh, those pants. Wool cafe capris in bright dahlia. Hello Luva! I think you must be mine. Must... sell... more... jewelry... Need... hot pink... pants...

This outfit is a great example of the color blocking trend you are seeing everywhere. I like this trend, because you can do it with pieces in your existing wardrobe. (Especially, once those pants are in my wardrobe...) Be bold. Pair things you would never have paired before. And you can color block too. Do it. You know you want to.

I Want That: Asos Kimono Sleeves

The other day, a friend of mine was lamenting how her mother always buys her clothing for gifts, and the pieces she picks are SOOO not her style. Another friend agreed. My mother, on the other hand, knows my style almost better than I know it myself. She always manages to remember something I have been pining over for years. Or she finds something so cool, I have never even heard of it. I can't remember the last time my mother bought me something and I went, "Oh...thanks mom. That is so... uh...nice." My mother would, no doubt, affirm my love for today's Daily Dose of I Want That. She knows my affinity for kimono sleeve tops and dresses. And even though I hadn't heard of it, she probably already knows about asos.com.



I discovered asos.com where I discover lots of great things: Facebook. And judging by the fact that Asos has almost 1,000,000 fans, I am not the first to discover this online fashion mecca. (I am a little slow sometimes.) But I sure am glad I stumbled upon this site. They carry a wide array of fashion forward pieces in all price points and appear to have great customer service policies. Where else can you get a coral romper for under $75?



One trend that never goes out of style (at least in my book) are kimono sleeves. I think it has a lot to do with the way they move. Every time I put on something with kimono sleeves, I feel dressed up. I feel elegant. And dainty. (Dainty isn't something I often feel.) You can imagine my lust when I did a little search for kimono sleeves on Asos and I found all of these great pieces.



I want.



This one even makes me want to be prego so I could wear maternity clothes. Okay. Not really. But it sure is cute.

Blogger Daily Dose

The whole blogging world is still a bit of a mystery to me. I continue to come up with thoughts of interest (or that I think might be of interest), pictures that will make you laugh, and rants and raves about places I've been or heard about. One trend in blogging I have come to like is a daily theme. One day is "Yummies" the next is "Fashion Flash." One day is "Dream Home" the next is "Love It or Leave It." And "Wordless Wednesday" seems to be a popular one, if only because it lets people take a short breather from their writing duties.

The best blogs usually have a theme, such as modern home decor, having a child with autism, or cooking chicken 1,000 ways. But then there is the Pioneer Woman, one of the most successful bloggers of all time, who just says what's on her mind at any given moment.



People love pictures, and some of the most popular blogs don't have much text at all. Just pretty pictures.

Some people find my website, because of my blog posts. One of my photographs is being used for an interpretive display in a state park. Some of my other blog posts go largely unseen. But overall I think blogging is good for me and good for Bon Lemon.

I am not a master novelist, nor do I aspire to be. Once Bon Lemon has "gone big time," (starting later this year and really hitting it hard next year) people will read this blog just because we will be that cool. Until then, I am going to continue to incorporate ideas I think will make this blog better. This week, I am going to start doing a "Daily Dose." Each day, you will get a daily dose of something different. I hope this helps you all know when you want to tune in.

Mondays will be "In the Know" (News, politics, and other facts. I know I am supposed to stick to style, but I can't help myself.)



Tuesdays will be "I Want That" (Self explanatory. I want that. Fabulous dresses, chaise lounges, trinkets, and treasures.)



Wednesdays will be "Hump Day Special" (50% off one item, for one day only. Available on our Facebook Page.)



Thursdays will be "Something Tasty" (Food, travel, and experiences that are good enough to eat.)



And Friday, Saturday, Sundays will be whatever I want. Whenever I want. Just because it feels fun to say that.
